Even if you're in Texas or Cali, you're still looking at ~3 hours for 14 cents. A typical bag of ice is $3.49 for 10 pounds. This will produce ice at about 1/3rd that price (@14 cent/kWh), assuming you can walk to and from the ice retailer. How many bags of ice to pay back the machine? What? $2/bag saved? 40-50 bags to break even? (Again, assuming you're walking to pick up the ice.)
