Just so everyone knows, this game will not have a disc, it's just a download code in a box

Makes sense since the game is gonna be like 200gb plus day one patches
yeah the main issue is that games are just getting too large for discs.
The main argument against that though is you're no longer able to resell them :/

I think XBOX has the best approach where the disc gives you access to the digital version.

This was for sure a decision by rockstar more so than Sony, it's code in box for xbox as well.
With that, yes, loving what xbox is doing, if they weren't shooting themselves in the foot 50 other ways they would be making a comeback.

good point on the rockstar part Smilie didn't think about that lol. yup, sony needs more pressure because they basically own this generation.

Target has had better deals with 20 percent off. I am surprised for plus members they don't give something more.

The only positive is when Asthma completely drives the company into the ground, they'll be forced to hire someone competent who will actually rebuild Xbox to the glory days.
I don't think that's happening. I suspect that project Helix will basically be like the steam machine but with xbox branding and windows installed. It will play older xbox games but all new games will just be PC games. Then they will release all their games on windows and playstation. They will go the way of Sega... and it all happened because of that fateful day at E3 when they announced the XBONE.

I don't think they'll have 20% off the game till a month or two after it launches.

Games can and have shipped on multiple discs before in the past (Final Fantasy games), but also including the more recent PS5 games (Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, FFVI Rebirth) which have a 'Data' disc and a 'Play' disc. Same thing for Rockstar's other game, RDR2 which came with a Data disc and a Play disc.

This is more for them to prevent reselling the disc, and maintaining higher margins throughout the game's lifetime. GTA5 can be found really cheap nowadays since it's an old 13-year game, but 13 years after GTA6, you will not find GTA6 so cheaply since there is no physical version available to drive the digital price down. They eliminate the secondary market which brings them no profits, and hold control over the pricing since it's a digital only game with no other competitors.

That's what makes sense.

I really can't argue any of that, though do you think the XB1 debut did more damage than the Kinect? I've been torn about that one for years.

Target has already had 20 percent off for military personal and 20 percent off for college students and teachers.

Are you meaning the Kinect as a whole or requiring the Kinect to be sold with the Xbox one? Assuming the latter, I actually wasn't opposed to that. The Kinect was cool as hell. I remember using the free trial of the P90X app and it could detect that I was not clinching my abs... which was pretty crazy. The games played pretty well too. The thing is it was a catch 22, developers weren't utilize it or make games for it if it wasn't widely adopted and it wasn't gonna be widely adopted if they didn't make games for it. Having it bundled at a discount while offering a Kinect-less option was probably for the best, as some people just didn't want the Kinect.

I'm not sure if you saw the Nex Playground but it's basically a budget Kinect but it came with a bunch of games and my kids were having a blast with it. If a game like that came with the bundled Kinect and they demoed that in stores it would have done so much better.

With all that, yes, a lot of people were still loyal to Xbox but were looking over the fence at PlayStation and after that announcement where they oozed greed and said you need to give them more money if you wanna let your friend borrow your game and you can't play without internet that destroyed that loyalty and the PS4 sold far better and it was over at that point.
