I purchased the 55 inch Roku plus series TV when it was on sale for $249 at my local BJ's a few weeks ago. It has a great picture and even the sound is really good thanks to the built-in woofer. Even though the plus series has mini LED technology, it's still suited best for a darker room since it doesn't get very bright. I've seen the Select series in club as well, and the picture is less bright than the plus series. The only issue I've had so far, is that when the TV automatically goes into HDR picture mode when it detects HDR content from certain apps such as prime video and Netflix, and the picture gets much darker in HDR mode where some scenes are completely unwatchable. I've adjusted the power settings and all the customization that I could, yet it's still awful. You can't even manually switch to a different picture mode from HDR, Roku software automatically locks you into that mode once detected. I did some googling and read that on other branded TVs that had Roku interface there was a secret menu where you can charge HDR mode off. These TVs made by Roku do not have that same feature on the secret menu. I contacted Roku and they tried to help me, yet they were unable to come up with a solution. I eventually figured out that prime video app itself has a setting to disable HDR, as well as Netflix. If it weren't for these apps allowing to turn off HDR in the app itself, I would have returned the TV.

Omg thank you. We have the same "too dark" issue and I was actually shopping for a tv thinking a new tv would solve it.

Beware buying ROKU.
ROKU's home page (that page that opens when you open ROKU ).
Its bad enough ROKU has been cluttering their home page with ADs.
Yesterday, opened ROKU's home page- FULL PAGE VIDEO ADS appeared covering the home page. Then the home page appeared. And that had ADs.

Than there were political ADs on the home page.
And there were racy ads. (in the Roku setting i have the parental control clicked--did not stop the racy ad)

Roku user since 2009.
Roku got popular because it had a cluttered-free, CLEAN, home page. That has ended.
