I put this in my yard, but someone knocked it down and stuck a sign in it's place that read 'down with flock'

Don't bother.

"They are a total waste of money. Bug zappers will not control mosquitoes or other biting insects such as horseflies, dogflies or deerflies," said Jonathan Day, associate professor of entomology with the UF's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences.

"They simply do not work as advertised. In fact, bug zappers actually make things worse by attracting more mosquitoes into your yard, and they end up killing thousands of beneficial insects that don't bother people."

I bought this with skepticism but it's actually fantastic! Love it! It lasts about 6 hours per night which is right when the mosquitos are out in force.

I know there are a ton of stuff about these not working.. being bad for the environment... etc etc. But I live close to the Tijuana River valley in Southern California. I instaleld 1 in my back yard and I have definitely noticed a huge decrease in the mosquito population. Yes there are moths and other bugs on it, but there are definitely tons of mosquitos that are killed on it. I use the little brush to clean it off once a week and there are at least 100+ mosquitos on it every week. Maybe like 20 moths and a few other various insects on it.

So far it has worked well enough where I ended up buying one for my front yard.

Is my house mosquito free now? no, of course not, but there is definitely a marked decrease from how bad it was before.

The only thing I wish was different is that it would turn on sooner, I have it setup to turn on automatically when its dark enough but I wish it would turn on maybe an hour sooner than it does currently. Otherwise I consider this to be a great buy so far.
