Depends on the type of piping you have.

Use "HAIR & GREASE DRAIN OPENER" is THE BEST. I'm using it for many years. I just used it yesterday for my backed up bath, and now water run like new. About every 3 or 4 months, my bathtub drain is clogging up. I used it every time and work perfectly.

This is how I do mine:
  1. After shower and water still in the tub. 1/3 tub water pour in half bottle, 1/2 or more tub water pour in whole bottle.
  2. Let it drain.
  3. Wait 6 hours later pour in some boiled waters in the drain.
It sale on Walmart, Home Depot, and Amazon. But Walmart has the lowest price here:

The owner of a plumbing company that lives next door to my parents told me years ago that it won't hurt the pipes, but it will hurt the tools they use to unplug the line if they come out
