don't really understand who is buying this. 5800x3d can make sense for people already on am4 and invested in the board and case and ram already, but they had 7700x3d, mobo, and 16gb ddr5 for like 479 last week. 200 bucks for another 16 gb and you're at a better am5 with years of upgrade path left build for like a 60 buck premium

These systems would be worth about $350 if the world hadn't gone AI crazy. The non data center production is getting price gouged as punishment for not getting top dollar chip production wafers in the AI line.

right but that just explains why everything is expensive, it doesn't really factor into the doing a full am4 build vs full am5 build argument.

If you are looking at buying a combo for a new PC, just go AM5. People should only buy the 5800x3d as a standalone to do a drop in upgrade for their existing AM4 system to save $ on ddr5 RAM.

Exactly. Even the 5800x3d itself makes no sense at 300 or $350. At that price you should just sell whatever cpu/ram/mobo you have and get a nice AM5 combo

I guess it makes sense if you have a lot of good ddr4 but if not then yeah am5 is better even then just get it out of the bundle and save money lol

I agree with you as well. This is too much of a price to invest in a full platform which is already reached its end of life. And as you mentioned, there were multiple Zen 5 based X3D deals with 16GB Ram avaialble, and is available at a lot cheaper price.

I looked at my newegg purchase history, I paid about $200 for my 5700X3D and it came with a free gift of 32gb(2x16) ddr4 3200.

Those days are long over..going with am5 is better long term but 5800x3d is a solid processor..this should be worth about 350-400$ tho..
