It's been this price for a while, heck during the newegg flash sale a week or two ago this bundle was $231. The 5500 is a heavily compromised cpu, having half the L3 cache of the same-gen 6-core r5 5600 and only supporting pcie gen 3. It's acceptable for a budget system, but I struggle to recommend it at over $250 even with the motherboard, ram, and included cpu cooler.
If you don't mind a slightly worse motherboard and kit of ram, you can get the r5 5500, ASUS PRIME B550M-A AC mobo, GeIL ORION RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 3200 ram, and same cpu cooler for $230.99: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Co...bo.4881712
Considering how low end the cpu is, I think most budget buyers would be better off saving the $25.

Is there a cheap enough graphics card to add to this rather than going with an APU?

Woot occasionally has e-waste tier many generations old gpus for $50 or less, and you can occasionally find really cheap old budget cards as open box or refurbished at retailers (bestbuy, microcenter, etc.) If you don't mind used, and really only care about display output, used gtx 970 can be found for under $35 including shipping on ebay, though it only receives quarterly security updates and support fully ends in 2028. If you want something a bit newer, the abomination that is the rx 6500xt can be found used at under $80 including shipping on ebay.

bots will just cite ai datacenters.
they can take their ai slop hallucinations and stuff it.
look at elon musk space x its crashing hard because they over paid for ai datacenters with 50% depreciation in reality but counted 15% depreciation of gpus to fake depreciation numbers like all of them michael burry is correct.

all the ai datacenter plays are going to go bankrupt. huge market crash coming soon since spy is 30% ai datacenters qqq is 50% ai datacenters.
buy compute on cheap at that point possibly 75% off or 80%-90% off since we are retail expect 75% off only 80-90% off reserved for hedgefunds

This CPU does not have integrated graphics.

You will need a GPU just to use it.

Ha ha... The 5500 has half the cache of a 3rd gen Ryzen 5 3600... Plus the 3600 has access to PCIE 4.0.

This is a budget cpu only. This thing should be $50 bucks. This deal should be $200.

For sure. I bought multiple R5 5500/ B450m combos without Ram on Newegg for builds last year for between $114-$135 as prices started rising. I "guess" that makes some kind of sense based on the new prices of 16gb ddr4 kits, but I still have so much ddr4 that id rather get the old prices without the ram. I cant say the same for ddr5 combos though, I'm completely out now, so nothing makes sense for ddr5 outside of a Microcenter bundle from here on out lol
