Wow, I haven't thought about this game in 30 years! I played Diplomacy and D&D in high school.

The board looks different than the 90s version.

If you don't mind ruining lifelong relationships, then go ahead and play this game.

I jest, but yes there is a lot of backstabbing mechanics involved in the game. Player beware.

I loved this game but the problem is the game is really only fun if you have 7 players, all who are willing to hang out around your table for like 3 hours. These days, I'm lucky to have like 1 friend willing to hang out with my sorry ass. Much easier in my high school days when friends didn't care what they were doing on a Saturday afternoon as long as it got them out of the house (and as long as they didn't care that there was 0% chance for female involvement.) Diplomacy was definitely high-grade chick repellent.
