Max TDS on the inlet is 500 ppm. Most parts of Tucson and Phoenix are greater than this. May be relevant for other cities also.

Why wouldnt the filters be the most expensive part?

Its a plastic housing and some plumbing fittings with some cheap electronics inside.
The filters do all the work, I would be upset if the housing was the expensive part.

You don't have to replace the housing, it's a one time purchase. Why would that be upsetting if the most expensive part is the housing? Majority of filtration media isn't overly expensive if you buy filter media that isn't proprietary. Standard RO filter cartridges for a 3 stage setup including sediment and a pair of carbon filters can be had for under $20. They are cheap to produce compared to the housing the filter elements live in...

This type of compact tank-less systems are good for people without a lot of space in their kitchens. If you have a larger space, you can totally save some money by going with a tank-based system that take generic filters.

After reading many reviews from Google. I think I'll skip this one. I will wait for WaterDrop model to go on sale. I have the WaterDrop G2P600 going through two filter replacement already and still going strong.

This one review show it will break after first year or the next filter replacement and there literally no customer support from APEC.
