How does this compare to a Moccamaster? Looks like the shower head is all plastic.

Isn't this the brand that chews moccamaster out for using plastic on their all metal 500$ version? Having that piece not be metal is a horrible decision. I would just get a moccamaster. I got one from eBay - it was missing a few parts but even with the parts I ordered it was all new around 124$ shipped. It's a BIFL appliance - worth the extra money.

Agreed. I've had a moccamaster for 16 years. Used every day. Still going strong. Still making great coffee.

Probably 12-13 years on my Moccamaster. Would just buy another if I needed to.

It is probably a machine that will last a few years. I finally shelled out for the Moccamaster on a slick deal for around $180. I have only had it for a year but from what others say, it can be a lifetime machine. I do not regret the purchase and it is speedy. Very confusing for visitors though. This looks like a good copy and I do enjoy the insulated carafe. For me, if you are spending this much on a coffee maker, you may as well spend $60 more on the real deal. Buy a cheap Mr Coffee in the mean time (if you are without a machine) and bring it out when you have company that want to make coffee and not get confused.

And if it ever breaks you can easily get parts that are super simple to install and be back up and running. Seriously doubt "SimplyGood" would even respond to your email

I have heard there's quality issues with these. I looked at the plastic-free one and ended up getting a Moccamaster instead. If you're concerned about plastic you can just put a pourover in place of the basket.
