Who in their right mind is upvoting this trash deal? The processor is ancient along with a meagre 128GB eMMC storage, all for $290??!! You can find refurbished Windows laptops with 11th Gen processors with double the RAM and storage for this price or even less. And even if you want a new chromebook, they have been posted here for similar price with newer processors and better displays.

It certainly is not. This would be a good buy around $150, or less. That processor isn't worth paying $290 for.

Current ChromeOS devices will receive 10 years of updates from the platform release date. However, since the ASUS in this deal is an older platform that means that the Auto Update Expiration is less than 5 years out at June 2031. https://support.google.com/chrome...py=%2Casus

Feature's you're paying for in this Chromebook deal:
  • 1080p touchscreen
  • 8GB of RAM
  • Convertible form factor
Although the N4500 CPU is a solid option for ChromeOS, it is probably the second most disappointing feature at this price point past the limited number of years of ChromeOS support. Ideally at this price point you'd get a more modern CPU that, for example, was supported by the Chromebook Plus program. https://support.google.com/chrome...8000?hl=en

Although this price point isn't necessarily a bad deal, it certainly doesn't represent as much value as, for example, the recent Costco offer that dropped the convertible form factor in favor of a peppier CPU and longer support interval. https://slickdeals.net/f/19371981-acer-chromebook-plus-514-14-touchscreen-laptop-with-google-ai-intel-core-3-processor-n355-1920-x-1200-chrome-os-8gb-ram-512gb-ssd-299-99-costco-com

Good luck!

N4500 is a five year old two core processor. Literally any of the N100/N150 series runs circles around it with two additional cores, high clock speeds, iGPUs and even better battery life.

Insane for nearly 300 dollar device.
