A friend has one that looks identical, down to the axle plate. When he moved into his apartment, he bought it as a temporary bed because he couldn't afford a real one and he was planning to move in 6 months. That was 5 years ago and he decided to stay. But he never bought a real bed.

After a month, he bought a king size memory foam mattress pad and folded it in half to make a mattress. And that's been supporting his 230lb body 5+ years, night after night. In other words, these cots are very sturdy. I believe the 550lb rating.
