Dont know if this has been posted before. Was walking through home depot in Texas store #2389 picking up AC filters. Saw something that stopped me in my tracks. I asked the sales person if this price is true he looked it up and he said yes that is the price. They had three available for delivery. The reviews are not great. Lots of new appliances are very error prone, something to due with the balance sensors. If you want to try your luck and are looking for a gas dryer it costs just a litte more then the pedestal. I intially thought the tag on the model was for the pedestal.

No look at the photo of the in store clearance tag that deal is real in that store in Spring, TX just north of Houston. Again not the best reviews so maybe why they are clearing them out.

Awesome price, but like you said (and reviews) , it's a gamble with reliability. Knowing GE, not surprised if it fails some months after installation.

Some reviews quoted $700 repair cost just for sensor failure, that is outrageous

Well, if you're in Chicago's NW burbs, don't bother. I've done the work for you. No go, sadly.

Just in case you're not aware of it GE was bought in 2016 by Haier.... The quality goes in before the name goes on, once the slogan of a company called Zenith. Here it's almost the same: The (poor) quality goes in before the name (Haier) goes on, sometimes it's a different name.

Yep. Unfortunately the money is now made after the sale. Designed obsolescence is real and prevalent in the appliance industry. I imagine a bunch of Epson and HP printer execs getting poached by the appliance industry in the early 2000's. And the conversation starts with " hey you guys are doing this all wrong" the money is in the (ink) parts and service, and why are you making things in the U.S., china is the place you ought to be, so they loaded up the truck and moved the Company. Sorry for the cheesy Beverly hillbillies theme song rip off. Maybe some people will get it.😉
