This Walmart+ oil change perk cuts a full synthetic service to about $43.88 plus tax, making it a strong value versus DIY or typical shop pricing. The main appeal is convenience, especially for drivers who would rather avoid changing oil themselves, and the discount can apply automatically when the Walmart+ barcode is scanned at checkout. The biggest friction is execution, since some Auto Care Centers seem unaware of the offer and wait times can be long. A practical option if your local store can process it correctly.

  • Drivers who want a synthetic oil change at a lower out-of-pocket price, because the discount can bring the service near DIY oil costs.

  • Walmart+ members who can get the barcode scanned at checkout, because the discount applies automatically when the membership ID is verified.

  • Car owners with hard-to-service drain plugs or top-side cartridge filters, because paying for the oil change avoids awkward under-engine access and messy DIY work.

  • Shoppers who want to watch the oil change happen, because the service area is visible through a fence or glass and the work is done to spec.

  • Walmart+ members who need a frictionless redemption, because some locations do not know the offer and the discount may fail to apply even after scanning the barcode.

  • Drivers who need a fast in-and-out oil change, because turnaround can take several hours and wait times vary by location.

  • People with low tolerance for service-center mistakes, because reports include wrong-fluid drains, missing filter replacements, and oily residue left inside the car.

  • Owners of vehicles that need more than five quarts, because the offer covers only five quarts and extra oil can erase the savings.

Shame they keep canceling my appointments when I show up because they dont have the right filter in stock. Doesn't matter which car I bring in... always out of stock.
Same when I bought my tires. They keep cancelling my appointments, because the got that wrong tires, tire changeer not working and etc. 3 times n I was done. Went to Discount and I was out in an hour.

You don't need an appointment. I just got my changed yesterday and was a walk-in. I just used the Walmart pay option on my Walmart app ( you need the phone camera to get the QR code from the checkout screen) to pay and it automatically applied the $25 discount.

So true. I also prefer doing all my own dental work because I just can't trust the experts with my molars.
You think the techs working at walmart are the best and brightest "experts"?

Yes, brand new this month. My auto center had no clue either and said they likely are not a participating location. I opened up a chat with customer service and they verified otherwise. I called the auto center back and told them and they put a call into corporate, called me back and told me I'm all set and to just bring my phone so they can scan my Walmart+ barcode. You can pull up a scannable barcode in the in-store offers section, any offer will work, they all just link to a barcode that scans your Walmart+ member ID into the system. The link I provided brings you to the FAQ which includes details, very bottom of the page.
Not trying to scare you but most of those "bubbas" working in a Walmart Auto department despise management types let alone corporate. I would check every nut, bolt, filter, dipstick and/or anything else they touched as they may want to show you how much they loved you calling them out being wrong.

Agreed, then again I don't trust places all that much anymore, especially dealerships. If I or my buddy can't fix my truck then I'll take it somewhere. With Mobil oil rebates I can get 10 gallons of synthetic oil for under $100. Most places want $100+ just for 1 oil change, I get 4 for around $100 doing it myself.
^^^^^^
This is the way!

I have seen some shit oil change jobs come out of Walmart before. Pretty certain they used an impact wrench on a friend's oil filter. Replacing oil and coolant caps with random things laying around, milk jug caps, etc. Also seen them not even replace the oil filter several times. I wouldn't get my or my loved one's oil changed at Walmart even if they paid me $25. Just stick to the 10c off at the gas pump.
Totally agree with this based upon my own experiences. I would add tire plugging/patching as well.

Eh, it's 2 different beasts. The major thing with walmart is free same day delivery past $35 for things like groceries or anything else in their local store. You also get paramount+ (with ads), and 10 cents off per gallon of their already cheap (and good imo) gas. Most of the time I need more than $35 worth of groceries so that's fine and it comes in a few hours. Also, you have free shipping for many items and they can come next or same day without the $35 minimum. These are the reasons why I think the membership is totally worth it, especially since it saves me time from actually shopping there, which I don't like. Saves me a trip and a LOT of time. Also, if they shopper does forget to bring an item or chose a rotting food item, you can easily get reimbursed for it no problem, and in my experience these problems are very rare.
We have been getting tons of bad produce picks over the last year or so. Walmart is now requiring us to bring in the rotten food to get the refund. It is a PITA but at least the looks we get from the customer service desk add a bit of comic relief.

I heard the benefits pay for the membership itself. A friend told me he calls when item is defective and they give him like a $10 or $15 code for a future purchase which has ended up paying for the membership. She got like $100 worth of coupons. Crazy!!
damn this is good

It's not in the app and the store doesn't know about it... How did the op find out about it? Walmart isn't publishing the deal anywhere.

Is this available at certain locations only? I did not see it at Katy (Near Houston) location at all for the option to scan the bar code for $25 off! Also cover up to 5 quarts. I have a V8 that takes about 7.5 quarts or so and last couple time it costs additional more than $25 extra. I only saw a new 25 photos 4x6 prints/month for Walmart plus option!
