This Walmart+ oil change perk cuts a full synthetic service to about $43.88 plus tax, making it a strong value versus DIY or typical shop pricing. The main appeal is convenience, especially for drivers who would rather avoid changing oil themselves, and the discount can apply automatically when the Walmart+ barcode is scanned at checkout. The biggest friction is execution, since some Auto Care Centers seem unaware of the offer and wait times can be long. A practical option if your local store can process it correctly.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can apply automatically when the associate scans your Walmart+ barcode, but the barcode must be scanned correctly at payment. Some visits required using Walmart Pay or asking the cashier to scan it as a vendor coupon, while other attempts did not trigger the discount.

  • The benefit appears to be intended for participating Walmart Service Centers, but some locations were unaware of it or did not show the offer in the app. Customer service said all Walmart Service Centers are included, yet availability and staff awareness can vary by store.

  • Open the Walmart app, go to Account, then Walmart+, then In-Store Perks or New: In-Store Perks, and tap an offer's Show Barcode option. The same barcode can be used for in-store perks, and location services/store mode may be needed for it to appear.

  • At $25 off, the final price can land around $43.88 plus tax on a $68.88 full synthetic oil change, which is close to the cost of buying synthetic oil alone for some shoppers. Others note that if you already buy oil in bulk or do your own changes, the savings may be less compelling.

  • Yes, a walk-in can work. One use case reported the discount applying on a walk-in full synthetic oil change when paying through Walmart Pay in the app.

Good perk for those who take it there, but I can't trust the Walmart's around me. I trust myself the most, so I just end up doing them myself.

It's why I do valvoline and let them pump it out. I don't trust the worst high school dropouts to not strip my oil plug. They did on my last car.

As a former WM Tire & Lube employee and current 41 year old mechanic, just don't.... your car deserves better.

I'm sure your dentist with at least 8 years of post-secondary education as well as a national certification and a state license, along with your dental hygienist who has at least 2 years of post-secondary education, a national certification and a state license, appreciate being compared to the high-school dropout using an air wrench on your drain plug.
This. I worked at a WM TLE. Some of us were very qualified to do our jobs, but some of us literally didn't know the difference between a Honda and Hyundai.

Nearly every shop that stays in business will have qualified techs, but the fact is that oil changes are usually given to the newest/least qualified guys. Personally, I still gladly use the 15 minute oil change places because I value my time and know what to look and listen for to ensure if they screw it up I can catch it quickly, but I completely understand the sentiment of not trusting anywhere to do it correctly.

I figured out a way to show in-store barcode to the auto center associate

- After opening the app, go to the "store mode" and you should see the "my barcode" section somewhere on the top and they should be able to scan this code at the register

Let me know if this works

In the mobile app, in the account section, click on "New: In-Store Perks!" You'll see a couple offers there that give an option to show a scannable barcode, which translates to your Walmart+ member ID.
Thanks! I was just looking through the WM+ section of the app and didn't see anything obvious, so your reply helps!

Wish i could add the barcode to my wallet or something.

Just not worth a bad oil change can cost an engine. They are "that will do" oil change place and not worth the risk to save +- $30

Oil changes are one of those things I don't trust anyone to do correctly.
Agreed. A family member was broken down on the highway because the shop didn't screw the drain bolt in tightly enough. Ever since then I've done my own.

So there's a difference? Monthly Walmart + members are second class citizens vs Annual Walmart + members?Anyone else confirm this statement?
