Community Reviews

This 4TB Team Group T-Force G50 NVMe stands out for its large capacity, 2600TB endurance rating, and included graphene heatsink. It is also DRAM less and uses HMB, so the controller needs to support that, and compatibility can be limited in PS5s and many external enclosures. The price drew strong pushback as high for a two year old mid range drive, though the urgency case is that it is the best available option when storage is needed right away. A practical pick if the fit and price still make sense for your setup.

Common Questions (4)

  • At $389.99, it is widely viewed as expensive for a two-year-old mid-range 4TB NVMe drive, with several comments calling it a roughly $100+ markup over earlier pricing. If you need storage immediately, it can still be the best available option right now.

  • It is DRAM-less and uses HMB, so the host controller needs to support HMB for best compatibility. That matters most if you are pairing it with a system that may not handle host memory buffering well.

  • It has a 2600TB endurance rating, which is strong for a consumer 4TB NVMe drive. For typical gaming and everyday use, most of the drive may stay largely unchanged; wear concerns matter more for scratch-disk workloads with heavy constant writes.

  • PS5s and most external enclosures do not support HMD SSDs, so compatibility can be limited outside a standard internal M.2 setup. Check the target device before buying if you plan to use it externally or in a console.

They won't settle down. Pricing will stabilize at levels much higher than before the boom but they will never return to the prices of 2 years ago. In case you haven't noticed, everything is more expensive. It's not just memory. So if the ai demand dies the memory will also be as expensive as everything else has gotten.
Tech pricing does not operate like milk or housing because memory follows cyclical boom and bust cycles. Claiming prices will never drop again ignores how hardware markets actually work when greater oversupply eventually hits. Right now, stores are still stocked with RAM and SSDs from 2 years ago, so accepting inflated prices as the new normal guarantees manufacturers keep charging them. So, it's in our best interest to stop buying into it and AI excuses.

Moreover, look at the GPU market, which proves my claim. People panicked during the crypto craze going, "OMG, video card prices will never come down again!" but the cycle eventually ran its course and things stabilized.

Buying a two-year-old drive at a $100 markup is absolute madness, so hold onto your pennies unless your current storage is literally on fire.

+1, there should be no pc parts involving ram, storage, or GPUs until this AI bubble pops and the US economy crashes since it's gotten so dependent on it

Exactly! I don't understand why some of these guys are pushing so hard to convince SD crowd that these are in fact great deals. It reads like a softer "phishing" or gaslighting to me. The fact that prices went up even before the supply crunch hit, and every news cycle pushing up the price, and the assumption that the whole world is just going to sit by with the raw deal and take no measures to prevent future supply problems is exhausting. Everyone seems convinced that the shortages will continue for two more years. The reality is there are close to 5 multi billion initiatives to address the shortage permanently into the future. Getting tired of these doomsayers.

That's not bad. Most of a 4TB drive , especially for consumers or heavy gamers stays as is after written. I'd only worry about that if it's a scratch drive for huge projects.

I wasn't complaining about that. When the OP originally posted, he neglected to include that, and some other stats. I was just posting it for folks that cared.

Wanting a lower price for an item being sold is everyone's preference, kid. What exactly is your point?

Thank you! I know many people are complaining about the price but if you need a drive NOW this is the best deal at the moment.

Make sure your drive controller can handle HMB ( no DRAM) if you buy this.
PS5's and most external enclosures do not support HMD SSD's. Only on Slickdeals can you post a fact to try and save people time and get downvoted. I wasn't knocking the deal, I bought 3.

Whatever the markup is, I am just trying to keep people from panic buying over whatever AI scapegoat the industry is hiding behind this week. Supply and demand only functions properly if consumers actually push back against inflated RAM and SSD prices instead of just accepting them during these corporate social experiments.
I wish more people can think like you. That's oversimplified, but it's spot on.
