It's not going to happen. Ttwo CEO said as much already. If that's the hill you want to die on, go ahead. But the ship has sailed. At least first party Nintendo games will still be physical. Sigh
No idea why you are being downvoted for being helpful. They aren't making a disc edition. The physical edition they sell in stores will just be a code for online stores. They have no intention of every producing a disc version of GTA 6.
I guess everyone just wants to shoot the messenger.

If preorders and sales don't meet expectations, it sends a signal from the consumer that the producer is doing something wrong.
I've enjoyed the GTA series but am not diehard enough to pre-order or buy it once it's released. I'm happy to buy it later, especially if that might contribute to the signal that consumers aren't happy with a digital only offering.

They've already exceeded their expectations for pre-orders.
I don't like going to a digital only world either, but there's literally no reason to avoid pre-ordering this game at this reduced price if you know you want it on launch. Rockstar has said they are not releasing a disc edition and there is zero reason to believe they are going to change their mind, especially because the sales are through the roof already just from pre-orders.
Again, you people can shoot the messengers all you want, but it doesn't change what Rockstar has said about going digital only on GTA 6.

I think you're maybe missing my point if you're lumping me into "you people" shooting the messenger. Personally, I can wait a year or two after it's released to buy it because the series is good but I have other games I can play and other things in life I can keep busy with. I'll bet the more people who post about not preordering this game, or other high profile, big budget games due to things like wanting digital only versions will at least gain some traction for their cause. Maybe it won't put a dent in GTA6, but might eventually send a message to the industry.
Personally, I'm more inclined not to do preorders or day one purchases due to bugs. I bought Fallout76 at launch and it was awful. I just started playing Cyberpunk 2077 for the first time on Gamepass and it's still buggy after 5+ years of fixes.

I'm with you on that one. I never buy pre orders. It gives me time to catch up on my backlog of games while prices go down haha

You're talking about the single most important entertainment release likely ever and you think you have any power here... The days of speaking with your wallet are over with mega corps. People have been waiting for this game for decades and the hype machine is about to go through the roof and the algorithm will be feeding fomo to everyone who wants to hold out. I appreciate your willingness to take a stand and if you're being honest then I hope you'll find something else to play the next few years because it's not going to be GTA
