Surfshark Starter is a low cost VPN bundle that stands out for easy account extension, clean app design, and useful extras like email and phone aliases. The service works well for general browsing and travel, with solid download speeds and regular audits plus a no logs approach cited as strong value. The main drawbacks are occasional disconnects, setup retries, weak upload performance for torrenting, and speed drops on some connections. Geospoofing and bypass behavior also appear less reliable than top rivals, making it a practical budget pick with a few rough edges.

Common Questions (5)

  • It can be stable for long stretches, with some users reporting no disconnects or slowdowns over nearly a year, but others report random disconnects every 1-2 days or major speed drops from about 500 Mbps to 50 Mbps. For torrenting, download speeds can be good while upload performance may be poor.

  • Yes. The checkout can be used again on an existing Surfshark account to add two more years, and the deal has been confirmed to apply without extra hoops. One renewal example was about $84 annually before the discount.

  • It works well for general use and travel, including staying connected while abroad for work, but its geospoofing is not as strong as ExpressVPN. It is still described as better than many other VPNs.

  • Yes. Surfshark's alias feature supports email forwarding and phone-number masking, and the service is described as regularly audited with a no-logs approach. That makes it a strong value for privacy-focused use.

  • Clicking the original post link should display the discounted price automatically. If it does not, the coupon code sld2630 can be used at checkout.

That's what I'm wanting to know too. Does it let you stack on top of an existing subscription?

Anything of $0, you might as well not use VPN. Someone is mining your data. But people are free to do what they will.
Aren't we just handing over our data to the VPN provider.

seems expensive for just a vpn
This is as cheap as it gets for any provider that is likely not just selling your data. If it's cheaper - you're the "cost".

It does - I was able to extend mine.

Yes, but there's a difference between providers who get audited vs not. Keeping logs vs not.
Not saying Surfshark is the GOAT (it's not), but it's arguably one of the best bang for the buck for something that keeps no logs, and gets regularly audited.

With anything - don't trust a random stranger on the internet, do some research on your own - or trust this stranger Wink.

Maybe I was using this wrong in the past, but my speeds would drop from 500mbps to 50 when using this VPN. I could never get higher speeds. Mostly used this for torrenting, not sure what other use for the average home consumer there is besides general paranoia but I do be a dummy at tech

I've been using surfshark for about 3-4 years now. Everything works fine except bypass unless I'm doing it wrong because traffic still seems to go thru the vpn for websites I include in the bypass list.

I have fiber 500/500. My torrent machine is kinda far away from the main router (amazon aero ) which is in my clothes closet. I'm using another AC6 router as an ethernet bridge to connect the torrent machine to the amazon router (2.4 Ghz band). I can get close to 100mbs.

How is it a scam? Unless you've never used them before, cashback deal won't work
How do you think they're enforcing it? I got the NordVPN cashback 3 times with 3 different emails.

You're not looking then.
Had multiple deals @ $15-$20 per year that's stackable for multiple years.
