The ThinkPad X9 15p comes across as a premium 15 inch laptop that stands out for its OLED screen, strong keyboard and trackpad, good chassis, and solid all around performance. The base 338H configuration is described as having capable integrated graphics, and the larger RAM pool can help graphics workloads. The main knocks are the missing trackpoint and physical buttons, plus soldered RAM and WiFi and an integrated keyboard that hurt repairability. It is also not especially Linux friendly or ultra portable, making it a polished but less traditional ThinkPad.

Common Questions (5)

  • The base 338H configuration uses integrated graphics, and the X7 upgrade only adds about 2 more Xe cores for roughly 10% more graphics performance. The integrated GPU can also use the laptop's large RAM pool, so the upgrade may not be worth the extra cost unless you need the small bump.

  • At around $1,849, it is viewed as a strong premium 2K laptop with a good chassis, great screen, and solid all-around performance. The main caveat is that it is not ultra-portable and some shoppers consider $2,000 expensive compared with other Lenovo deals.

  • No. The X9 15p omits the TrackPoint and the traditional physical buttons, so it does not feel like a classic ThinkPad to shoppers who rely on those controls.

  • Yes. It has been described as a good daily driver with a quality chassis, great screen, and comfortable keyboard and trackpad, and one owner said it arrived within 2 days and looked great.

  • Repairability is limited because the RAM and Wi‑Fi are soldered and the keyboard is integrated into the body. That makes future upgrades and repairs harder than on more modular ThinkPads.

Since it is 2026 not 2006 anymore.....
I mean, to be fair, so far as I know, the X9 is one of the only Thinkpads, if not the only one, to have forgone the track point. And they introduced that model only last year.

Great deal if you are looking for a premium laptop in the 2K range. Beats the Omnibook IMO on performance, build and reliability (but yes its not an ulta portable unit).

I got one. Arrived within 2 days. Looks great. I don't think there is a better all around laptop for $1850 available today.

Is it possible to get EPP pricing if I'm not an employee? Also, how does this deal compare to this one:

My old XPS died and I need a replacement quick. I use it mostly for office and light CAD (Inventor 2026, small assemblies). Thanks!
