fifty cents more for 8g

I would get the 8g out of principle, since "deal history" doesn't show the $2.80 deal in May for 4g.

Ok price and ok paste. Aleays good to have some decent therrmal paste around if you like to tinker with computers, but calling the MX4 "Premium Performance" is a stretch.

Or even when it was $3 just 3 weeks ago. Funny how that works for sponsored posts.

Interesting. When I ordered MX-6 like 2 years ago, no arctic paste was shipped by Amazon. It was all shipped by Arctic and slow. Apparently somebody pushed a lot of fake product (the short lived MX-5, maybe?) into Amazon's warehouses. Guess the two companies worked something out?

It was premium when it came out in 2010. It's kind of amazing to think how long it's been around.

This is just an average thermal paste with ordinary performance. There is nothing special about it at all. There was a huge counterfeit MX-4 scandal back in the day. Make sure to buy this from a certified retailer. Counterfeits are still floating around out there.

I used Arctic paste for many years before switching to Thermal Grizzly around 2019 because I noticed better thermal conductivity, much better longevity because TG doesn't dry out and get hard nearly as fast, and slightly less pump out effect with TG. Everything about TG is better in my opinion which is why I used their normal paste for all my computers between 2019-2024 and now I only use their carbon pads for all my GPUs and CPUs since those last forever with no degredation since they are pure carbon pads and not paste. The carbon pads are about 1 degree farenheit hotter compared to TG paste but they last forever and never change performance over time so that's why I only use the pads now that building new computers costs more than cars so I'm looking to keep my current computers as long as possible.

Man, this takes me back to the core PC building days when we had sites like Tiger Direct and Pricewatch and stores like Fry's. Miss those times.

I know it's $1.85 more, but the MX-7 has better performance in several areas while still maintaining non-conductivity. You don't get the spatula, but they're not really needed at all. That said, we're still talking under $8.

Do you also use the carbon pads on the CPU? can you share a link for it please?

Most don't need to paste all that much, should only be done if you're experiencing system issues and such.

Thermal Grizzly KryoSheet sold on Amazon for $24.99. I have a 7950X3D+AIO and 9950X3D+AIO and I use the 38mmx38mm size KryoSheet for each one. I bought 6 pads total so I'd have a couple spares on hand if I ever needed them, and I cut some of those pads down to size to use with my 2080Ti, 3080Ti, and 5070.

This vs Grizzly pad or paste is 1-3 C difference. Even old school AS5 vs MX-4 is only 1-2 C diff. Would be nice is someone ever came out with something that performed closer to 5-10 C diff...just saying.

I used MX4 when it first came out. A few years ago I swapped to MX6. And just recently I switched to Thermal Grizzly. Using a Kryosheet with putty on my 7900XTX and has made a difference. I have a PTM Phasesheet coming today that I'm going to use on my 7800X3D and hoping I get great results. I have some MX6/MX7 for other hardware that isn't as important to me and tinker with.
