Same price at Monoprice website too if you would prefer to order directly from them.

This is probably rarely actually sold for the $300 MSRP though.

$139.99 looks to be an all-time low, most of the time it's been over $200.

A visit to your IKEA AS-IS section could suffice. Two of my dedicated computer desks are built from an IKEA headboard cut in half.

From the Monoprice specifications:
  • Recommended Desktop Width 47.2" - 70.9"
  • Recommended Desktop Depth 23.6" - 31.5"
You'll also want to stay below the 220 pound weight capacity.

Good luck!
Jon

I got a wood top from Lowe's. I essentially got the IKEA Alex drawers for each side, then the standing desk in the middle and the wood top right on top of it all.

From what I understand the Monoprice desks are about as stable as you can get in the sub $300 category, with only 2 legs. To get higher than that you need to either spend a LOT more or you need to go to 4 legs (and spend a lot more).

I just installed these legs last weekend and so far I'm quite impressed. The movement is very quiet and smooth. Really rare to find a cheap frame with such a low minimum height, which is necessary for proper ergonomics if you're short like me.

I stained and finished one of these. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out https://www.flooranddecor.com/woo...27540.html

I don't understand, you can buy a whole ass motorized adjustable standing desk for literally half this price. I know because I did and they are always on sale.

Second this. I use their butcher block to add a premium surface to a number of projects (sofa table, particleboard storage systems, etc.). Stick to sourcing your butcher block from places like Floor & Decor who sells solid-wood butcher block. Some cheaper options at IKEA or Home Depot can work, particularly if you find a piece sized precisely for your needs. However, laminate butcher block is your enemy if you're hoping to cut something down to a custom size.

Grab some butcher block conditioner from Howard with your purchase.

Good luck!
Jon
