Agree with others that electric pump is a necessity. I use electric for the first 90% and top off using the included pump to use the included pressure gauge
Re "kid size" I have had kids use these without any issue. Paddle length is adjustable.
Heads up the paddle will sink. Put some foam in it.

I do think having a kayak paddle for the younger crowd is helpful so they don't have to swap sides.
