One thing to note about any pinball machine is they require cleaning and some amount of maintenance. Be ready to learn how to service it yourself or pay a technician (that may be hard to find in your area) more money than you may want to spend on upkeep.
I had the previous version of this (without insider connected). Modded it with a bigger screen and a few other things. Miss it. Replaced it with other pins.
Pinball is addicting. And expensive haha

If you want THIS machine, it's a reasonable price. If you want a Star Wars machine and have this kind of money, though, you want a Fall of the Empire machine, Mr. Money Bucks.

Resale value takes a big hit though because most pinball people are snobs.
As far as home editions go, Jurassic Park shoots better in my opinion.
$4k is a great price new, for me, id jump on it for 3k though.
it's not quite a toy, but it's definitely not a real arcade pin. a lot of people wouldn't notice the tradeoffs besides the screen size though unless they had a real machine side by side

Some people throw shade at the original Star Wars Home Edition, and to be fair, it is lower quality. This Home Edition Plus available thru Costco has a plywood playfield (just like the Pro), Spike 3 platform CPU (just like Transformers, Pokemon, Star Wars Fall of the Empire Pro/Premium/LE), and Insider Connected achievement tracking system.
This game's playfield is a little less busy than Pro editions, but it's almost half the price. It does still include real pop bumpers, slingshots, three ramps, two orbits, a hurryup, a few different skill shots, four different multiball modes (including the Jedi multiball mini wizard mode), loads of achievements available to earn via Insider Connected, and the perfect complexity ruleset for folks that are new to pinball. I'm usually able to get our kids' friends up to speed with the high points of the rules within an hour or two of playing.
After playing this almost every day for the last 9 months, I am ranked in the top 1% globally (with a score of 40 mil). I have started saving up to buy another modern Stern machine with a deeper ruleset, but the rest of my family that don't play daily are still enjoying working on achievements. This one is still fun for me, and I still have friends that like to come over regularly for cold drinks and competitive pinball.
To see actual gameplay, Jack Danger ("Deadflip"), who is now a game designer for Stern, streamed an extended game where he was able to play the Wizard mode twice in one game. I've only achieved this two times, but he is a considerably better player.

I'd argue that this is more fun that FOTE. FOTE may have more modes but this is a more imfun playfield.
Not that I was going to buy it. I was just curious to see what "home" editions even meant. For now, I'll settle for Visual Pinball in VR with a stubby cab with bass shaker haptics. To me, it's the realist thing I've done in VR. More presence for me than even sim racing on a rig.
Pinball machines are luxury goods, though, not dissimilar from a consumer perspective from jewelry (though more fun and more dopamine, to me!). When you start dropping thousands on a discretionary purchase like this, you have to have sufficient disposable income and most pinball homeowners - thousands I've met over the years at expos like Pintastic - have substantial surplus cash.
That said, there are certainly enthusiasts without a lot of discretionary income that buy low and trade up. You buy a used, full-size machine and you play it and learn more and maybe clean it up, then you trade it with other owners. In some cases people make a lot of money on older machines that have been fully refurbished. Overall, it's LESS expensive to buy a desirable machine with greater resale value than a machine like this with a lower resale value and less desirable trades economically, because you can trade more easily for other machines or resell them closer to the price you paid. Pinball machines, when you know the market, can hold their value or increase in value depending on the make, model, year, designer, etc.
Still a very well made machine, but - in MY opinion - there are more economical options out there. Take a look!

Agree to disagree. Unlike Bozamnimal, actual owner here. We've had it for 9 months and love it. Though this is a simpler playfield than the $7K pro version of the theme, it is full size cabinet, full size ball, full power flippers.
