This is a rant so don't bother reading it.
Against my better judgement I picked up one of these in fair condition. Opened the box to find the bottom of the laptop off and the the screws taped to the bottom of the case along with 2 additional M2 screws. I tried to boot the laptop and it wouldn't boot to Windows. I tried to use the touchpad to attempt a OS repair but that didn't work so plugging a mouse in I was able to run the Windows repair but that failed. Downloaded Windows from MS, did a fresh install and got it to boot. Finally, flipped the laptop over and pulled the bottom off to reveal that someone tried to get to the touchpad to look at that problem and stripped one of the screws to remove the battery. Figured out that the 2 M2 screws taped to the bottom were from the battery.
On the plus side, the SSD only has 27 hours on it and the battery life is 100%. The 1 year warranty is already expired so I wonder what this computer has been doing from the last year broken with only 27 hours of use.
I'm sure its just my bad luck but I've bought 3 open box laptops from Best Buy and all have had issues that kept them from working.
Most are return units. I got one recently and got the manufacturer to restart the one year warranty. So far so good with it. Mine was a good condition unit - all I could find was a few tiny scratches on bottom.
