As a "Spinning for Life", I'm tempted to get a cheap one to give it a go. I did that years ago, but it was worthless. Curious if the quality is any better with more modern cheap spincast reels.

Work for spotted and calico bass so far. Have been putting them through the wringer in the ocean. Overall impressed for 10$. The drag isn't too great so I wouldn't trust it for much bigger. But gets the job done.

I bought this reel when it was on sale for like 10 bucks from a month ago, like the other comment said. I've use it and its not too bad tbh, as a beginner reel it will get the job done, if I would definitely recommend putting the brakes on this reel all the way up if its your first time. If you learn that you prefer spinning reel more you can use this baitcaster as a catfish reel or something along those lines. Overall its a meh reel, decent for beginners

I bought a couple for $10 last month and paired with those green zebco casting rods from Walmart for <$25 baitcasters. Stringing it isnt too bad. I'm a novice at baitcasting too. I also have a Shakespeare agility that I might like a little better.

I bought 4 of this reel last time for $10 each. Not bad but I did costs me two monster redfish because the drag on it wasn't strong enough to stop the fish from getting away

Thanks. Picked one up for my son who is into everything fishing, should be an OK one to try out and learn on and see if he likes it enough to spend the time mastering it.

Try it! I started last year after 30 years of spin gear and now have a small arsenal of baitcasters lol

I bought this when it was ten bucks. I made the switch to bait casters from spin gear over 10 years ago.
I have spent a lot of money on baitcasters. So when I saw this for 10 bucks, why not? Adjust it in, and I have no complaints. I keep it in my truck bed along with an old rod, and it's hard to beat. Just do it; it is a good introductory reel. Watch a video on how to adjust the brake, and birds nest will be in control. Have some fun, and you will be hooked.
