This RX 9070 GRE sits in a tricky middle ground, with strong 1440p performance and enough 12GB VRAM for current games and light AI work. It is described as roughly 25 percent faster than an average 9060 XT at 1440p with light to medium ray tracing, and some comparisons put it well ahead of older cards like the 3070 Ti. The main concern is longevity, since 12GB can become a bottleneck in newer titles and heavier ray tracing can narrow the gap. It looks best for buyers who want a solid midrange step up without chasing the top tier.

  • 1440p players using light ray tracing, because it runs about 25% faster than an average 9060 XT for only a small price increase.

  • Gamers upgrading from a 3070 Ti, because it can deliver roughly 30% more performance across the board.

  • AI hobbyists needing extra VRAM, because the 12GB memory is better suited to AI workloads than gaming.

  • 4K gamers expecting high settings, because 12GB VRAM and modern game demands can force lower resolution or DLSS balanced.

  • People playing newer ray-traced games with heavy texture demands, because anything that crosses the 12GB threshold can stutter.

  • Players chasing a big jump from a 3070 Ti, because the upgrade can feel minimal at around 5% or less.

Worthy upgrade from a 3070ti? It's starting to show it's age on AAA games like spiderman 2, I can only play on low settings (60-80fps) and it drops frames pretty constantly with a 7600X CPU.

reinstall drivers.... the 3070ti should not be running that bad on Spiderman 2, it's not a particularly demanding game

I'll be in Dallas in a/b a month which is where a MicroCenter is located. Hopefully, this GPU will still be at this same price or better when I get there...

well that's your problem.... 4k is a massively hard to run for modern games and 8gb is not going to cut it

either lower the resolution or set DLSS to balanced

Dude, save your money. Very minimal improvement, like 5% or less. If you have a 3070 Ti you need to get the 9070 XT for any real gains. Those are about $700 at Microcenter. Ya, the GPU market continues to be overpriced and suck for even the mid tier category.
