You will need to subscribe to their plan or these become a pile of junks.

100% better than ring! They don't have a subscription model. You lose few things like camera feed storage, it shows live feed, and allows for remote alerts, arm and disarm without subscription

Only 10 pieces. BJ's had a 12 Piece for $99 until couple of weeks ago. But I am not sure about the difference between the two. Both has outdoor camera free.

Not true. Ring does not require a subscription. If you look at both, their plans are similar. I bought Ring a few years ago because I already had 2 doorbells. Used it free for a while and was happy with it. I added a 1 year plan for about 100 bucks so it would record for me. I think either would be fine. One thing I like is between Amazon and Woot, Ring stuff is always on sale. I expanded my system over time. Added motion sensors, more cameras, air quality sensor and water sensors. I like my system, but Simplisafe is probably good too.

What I do know about the Simplysafe system based on my discussion with their phone rep is that it has built-in GSM and battery back up in case there is power outage or internet goes down, so that part is good about the Simplisafe system. THEN the rep kept saying there is no contract commitment BUT then mentioned to keep in mind that if you cancel the service subscription: 1) you will lose the GSM function since it is designed to only call/contact the Simplisafe monitoring team (it does not call you directly) and 2) lose access to phone apps functionality since it is proprietory app.

OK I get losing the GSM function if you cancel service. However on different Reddit discussions they mention still having the basic phone app functionality ie. arm/disarm via phone app and it sends notification if alarm is triggered, I would be perfectly satisfied with this if I can save the $24 monthly fee, can someone please confirm this? I am ok to risk losing GSM functionality putting my faith on our history with our ISP's (ATT) and power company uptime (yeah yeah I know Murphy's law)
