The Sonos Roam is a compact portable speaker that sounds consistent within the Sonos lineup and works well as a shower or travel speaker, especially if you plan to use AirPlay and skip the Sonos app after setup. The hardware gets praise, and the battery life can stretch to about two weeks with daily shower use. The main concerns are the original Roam's UI and app problems, plus reports of premature battery failures and units that never power back on after fully dying. It feels like a small Sonos speaker with useful wireless convenience, but reliability and software history remain the big watchouts.

Mine lives in the shower and I use it everyday, and charge it maybe once every two weeks. It's a great shower speaker with voice control, AirPlay capability, and is rugged enough to live it's life in a humid environment like a shower. If I replace it however, it'll be with a Play (2026)
