Very limited in tone ability. There is nothing wrong with a single humbucker (I prefer humbuckers) but for a beginner I would recommend has (humbucker single single) it will give you all you need for pretty much anything you want to play.

I disagree on getting a HSS. Most beginners aren't going to use anything but the bridge pickup, considering that most players, in general, don't use anything but the bridge pickup. I've been playing for almost 30 years, and the only time I use a different pickup than the bridge is when I switch to the neck for sweep picking. Middle pickups are almost pointless and will most definitely get in the way of a beginner. It's why so many guitars that do come with more than one pickup. just have a bridge and neck pickup (usually humbuckers), and skip the pointless middle one.

Hmm not sure about this. I've got over 30 guitars and 20 years of playing and I still use the bridge about 98% of the time on all my guitars. In fact, one of my favorite guitars is my EVH Frankenstein that comes with only a bridge HB. Just got this to mess around with.

I have the sss version of this guitar, bought from Fender for my Grandson. I sent the first one back ,Fender service was good. The second one was as bad too. I did all you can to set it up but intonation is not possible on this or the other one. It also hardly stays in tune for a short while, although I do like the split tuners idea. The fit/finish is acceptable and it sounds ok for cheap. I did have to level frets and file some edges but that's not the issue. The intonation kills it all, two guitars, a freak....ehh....maybe. I bought him a cheap "Jungle" Leo SG, it had spot on intonation out the box, low action, good frets, nut and stays in tune very well. humbuckers are ehh..but under $100 delivered, he was much happier. I have no angle just an experience.

Exactly. Hardly anyone uses anything other than the bridge. Even Eddie primarily used the bridge and occasionally the neck. I have an EVH Wolfgang and it only comes with a bridge and neck pickup. The Synyster Gates guitar only has a bridge and neck pickup, as well as many other world class signature player guitars. I also have a Tom DeLonge Strat that has just the bridge humbucker and I use that more than any other guitar.

You get what you pay for. People like the deal because of the price, but there are so many better deals for double the money and you won't have to send the guitar back to find a gem. At least you know what you were looking for. Most of these will just a guitar like this just sitting in a corner if they get a dud.

I basically play the bridge only and use the tone knob + snapshots on my helix to control tone.

LOL! If your experience was normal, guitar manufacturers wouldn't even bother with two pickups, let alone the three a versatile Strat comes with. And if you don't understand the 2 and 4 positions on a single coil Strat after "playing for almost 30 years", then that is just #sad. So is getting a pointless double humbucker Strat.

Really bad advice.

It would have been a real advantage for you to learn to play a right-handed guitar since your strong and agile hand would have been your fretting hand. It is an accident of history that right-handed people screwed that up for themselves.
