Currently have the BR08s and really enjoy them. Anyone know if this upgrade would be significant? Major difference seems to be the tweeter

prices point says yes, reality? not sure.. I think it depends on your room, other equipment, it's placement, and if you have/need room treatment.

I think ceiling for these is much higher, yes, but can you get it all out of them? that's likely a better question, IMO

These are a step up with a more forward refined sound.
Are they a $1k significant upgrade, couldn't answer that for anyone.
Borea's are a pretty good value.

If you were debating between the two, yes I would get these.

Usually, any speaker brand's topmost model line offers more linearity as well as more mid-bass extension, and staying composed at higher volumes (less distortion as SPL increases). These attributes are more noticeable when doing music listening in 2.0 not so much 2.1 and not at all if your main usage is movies/TV because the center speaker is what you're actually hearing (60-80% of the total output during HT).

At $500 these are about the same price as the Borea's towers so it's a great deal. But no guarantee that YOUR ears will find the hassle of upgrading worth it or not.

How are these vs the Polk r700's? I've been waiting on a sale of the Polks but may just get these.

If you want a very neutral sound, the Polks would be a safer bet.

If you like measurements ASR reviewed the larger version of this series the Esprit Antal Ez.

They measured okay, definitely not objectively worth the retail price in any way. They also had high levels of harmonic distortion at louder volumes but some folks might actually like that. High HD like they present usually means they will sound somewhat aggressive or edgy in the treble and warmer or resonant in the bass when cranked.

I would not buy them for any price unless I was flipping them but that is me.

As far as this brand, I have only used the BR03 and the Genese Trio. Neither speaker sounds very clean to me.
The BR03's are loved by many though. The Genese Trio I did keep because I need a variety here and it has a unique sound (not nuetral). They have a similar tweeter design to the EZ series. They sound very 'horny' and they are not accurate speakers, not everyone will like that but some will love it.

I would not 'upgrade' to these EZ speakers. That said what kind of sound signature or sound quality traits do you know you like?
