Just a heads up that on the original version of Alan Wake, Space Oddity by David Bowie was replaced with another song during the credits due to licensing expiring a couple of years ago.

It's a very different game than Control. There are lots of lore connections since they're both in the Remedyverse, but this a horror game (a la Resident Evil) whereas Control is more of an action/adventure/platformer (with some scary stuff, but not horror in the same way). If survival games aren't your cup of tea but you're a fan of Control, it's probably still worth a shot at $1.49. If you don't like it, you can check out recap videos on YouTube (I recommend the @GamingUniversityUoG channel) to at least learn about the story and lore.

Like the other person said, very different. It is more like an interactive story but somehow super engaging. You can do a lot of exploring to find / collect things, but NOT open world in any way, shape, or form.

FWIW, on paper I should hate this game because I tend to really dislike narrative games that basically lead you down a set path but AW was pretty epic. Somehow the flashlight, managing resources, swapping guns with limited ammo, getting under streetlight mechanic, is super stressful but you can't get enough either.

Looks like I missed that week as I show pickups on July 25 and August 15, 2019. Or maybe I skipped it cuz I already had it on Steam which says I last played it in July 2013. Also see I bought it for X360 from Gamefly in March 2011. I still haven't played it through.
