Samsung's 40 inch Odyssey G7 G75F is a curved 5K2K gaming monitor that also works well for productivity, with the 180Hz refresh and 1000R curve standing out on the large screen. The size feels natural for long writing sessions and gaming, and the included USB C to DisplayPort connector can deliver 5K at 180Hz on a Mac Studio without extra adapters. The main tradeoff is connectivity, since it does not power a laptop over USB C and Mac setups may need a hub or cable workaround. It is a strong fit if you want a big, fast ultrawide and can live with the port limitations.

This or the S85TH for $699 with EDU/EPP?

Mixed usage...I really like the speakers and USB C on S85TH.

I chose this because it has higher refresh and read about the problems people were having with the USBC port on macs.

Edit: Higher refresh rate, not bandwidth

When you say higher bandwidth, do you mean higher refresh?

I'm very familiar with tech and the trade offs. What your proposing will work but it is truly a concession.

The 75hz is the one big drawback.

I bought this last month. I have a Mac Studio and the monitor includes the connector so you don't need to buy anything. I got 5k 180hz using the included usb-c to display port connector.

Wish these EPP deals stopped popping up, feels the same way when people comment on microcenter deals when they don't have one near them

I game regularly but I also write A LOT at my computer. Am I crazy to think that I should get a less curved option like 2500R? I don't have a lot of experience and visiting Microcenter didn't really help as I felt better at the less curved ones but everyone online says it takes like a week to adjust to heavy curves. I just don't want to feel out of place writing hundreds or pages or gaming for hours at a time. I was even considering a technically worse monitor because the curve is less (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H39ST9D9). I just don't know.

I use this primarily for productivity, and it's been great. I actually think the curve is perfect for the screen size.
