PSA: these don't replace full sized docking stations, at least not for very long. These things will eventually overheat and die. Granted, docking stations can sometimes be just as poor. I'd probably only use these maybe an hour or two per day. Don't expect to replace a full sized dock with them (at least not for daily 8 hour days).

That might depend on many factors, luck being one of them lol. I have an adapter like that branded Acodot, and it worked on daily duty for about 5 years now. And yes, it runs pretty warm. New one from Orico is running much colder in comparison doing same job. Part of that success story likely is that my monitor is not 4k, just WQHD, so I am not stressing adapters to their limit. I am considering getting another Orico just to reduce amount of energy wasted, even that my old Acodot is still working perfectly fine.
