This is a great deal. But as someone who has owned 2 Wolfgang Specials and currently has a Wolfgang Standard with an OFR installed, finding a new or used Standard for $450 and adding the OFR is a better guitar than the Special, even at $650. Yeah, it takes an install, but the Standard is the same guitar without an archtop and is so much cheaper for upgrading. And the wood models, if you can find them, are far and away better with a satin finish.

I respect that take. I've got a bunch of all flavors of EVH, and I like the feel of the specials over the standards. The necks are supposed to be better, I LOVE the drop-d tuna, I like the arched top, and I kind of even like the "tone" volume low friction. I can take that or leave it though. I'm not playing Cathedral or anything like that.

Yeah, that's fair. And if you want an Ebony board, they have those out there on sale on occasion. I like the arm contour on the Standard, and the non-arch to me fits the shredder aesthetic better. It's like the Special is trying to be a bit of a Les Paul, which is there if a person wants that flavor. But I think the wood Standard models are simply amazing for the price.

I got a Standard off Craigslist for $250 (it was listed for $400)... anyway that high E string is constantly slipping off the fretboard when I play.

The frets are so rolled (which is usually a good thing) but the neck is kinda narrow (or maybe the string is too close) and the combination leads to constant high E slipping off which doesn't happen with the other 30 or so guitars I've owned before someone says that's a skill issue.

Anyways I'm gonna sell it because that is so annoying.
