This is a good sub. Sealed, 17Hz low end (great for a sealed sub) and DSP via an app (always a nice feature that they all should offer). Dual side-firing though, but a good price. Elac's Varro line is good quality.

Pretty penny for something that sits in the corner and goes boom boom boom.

This isn't that kind of subwoofer. It's a quality sub for music. Definitely don't pay this much if you just want something that goes boom boom boom. You can get that for around $329.

Two RP-1400's for $699 each will step on this.

Its been a while that sub has went on sale. Plus this is more about being pretty and small and still havinh good output especially if it can truly deliver the same output as the 1400sw... Imho for $1400 this is actually good. The 3k msrp is ridiculous. Arendal dual 13.5, vented cost that much and looks even better.

Also, this is a sealed, dual driver sub at 1200 watts w/DSP. Not even the same category as the Klipsch. Amp will probably last longer, too.

12"+ subs generally go boom boom.

If that's how you choose to set them up, sure. But that's got nothing to do with the driver size.

If you want to spend that kind of money on a sub, then buy Rythmik, especially for music.
