But I've read from multiple places from plumbers who install these toilets for a living, that you can essentially make this 1.28 Drake flush like a 1.6 by holding the handle down and emptying the tank. So I see that as a win for efficiency, can tap the handle for pee and hold for poop. Even then a light normal flush takes care of poop just fine.
Got 2 from the last Costco sale @$300 and love them. The Cefontec (sp?) coating is great and we have to clean the toilets 3x less frequently as our old ones.
For the trash talkers who says these suck, why spend so much and so on, they either don't own one, don't value the quality of life a good toilet/bed/etc provides, OR have gigantic nasty ass shits that even a $5,000 toilet couldn't help.
Community Reviews
The TOTO Drake is a comfort height, elongated two piece toilet that stands out for strong flushing and easier cleaning. The included seat, wax ring, and supply line make this Costco bundle more complete than comparable offers, and the 1.28 gallon flush is valued for code compliance and lower water use. The CEFIONTECT coating and Tornado Flush are tied to less scrubbing and fewer clogs. The main cautions are the taller seat height, special cleaning requirements, and transit damage reports. A solid fit if those tradeoffs work for your bathroom.
Common Questions (5)
Yes, it uses TOTO's CEFIONTECT coating. It should be cleaned with gentle, non-abrasive methods rather than traditional toilet bowl cleaners or harsh brushes, because those can wear the coating down.
Yes. The 1.28 GPF Drake is reported to flush strongly, and holding the handle down can empty more of the tank for a more powerful flush when needed. It also avoids the 1.6 GPF version's reported tendency to run or need handle jiggling.
Yes. This Costco bundle includes the seat, wax ring, and supply line, which makes it more complete than some lower-priced alternatives that omit those parts. That can make the higher sticker price closer in value once installation extras are counted.
Yes, it is comfort height and sits noticeably taller than a standard toilet. That makes it easier to get up and down, but it can feel too high if you were expecting a lower bowl.
Yes. This Costco version is the Transitional model, with a more classical ridge tank-lid design than the regular model's more modern lid. If you already have a Washlet and do not need the included seat or supply line, you may be paying for extras you will not use.
