Thermacell E-ZoneGuard Glow is a rechargeable mosquito repellent lantern that can make a backyard or grill area noticeably more comfortable, especially on calm days after the 15 minute warm up. The scentless operation and long battery life are appealing, and the deal gets better when refill pricing and Amazon perks are stacked. The main drawbacks are uneven real world performance, with reports of it failing against Asian tiger mosquitoes, in breezy conditions, and in heavy mosquito pressure. The liquid refill also costs more, can evaporate if left uncapped, and a timer would make it easier to use.

  • The lantern can reduce mosquitoes around a grill after a warm-up period of up to 15 minutes.

  • The lantern can help create fewer mosquitoes in the surrounding area while it runs.

  • The handheld Thermacell style reportedly worked well during camping using pads and fuel tanks.

  • The rechargeable liquid system can be more convenient for some users than individually wrapped butane pads.

  • The lantern can fail to prevent bites during yard work, leading to multiple large itchy marks.

  • The lantern can be ineffective against Asian tiger mosquitoes.

  • The lantern's effectiveness can drop on breezy days and may be useless with wind.

  • The rechargeable liquid repellant can evaporate if not capped and may not last as long as rated.

So it says on the package it takes up to 15 mins to start so keep that in mind. First day I turned it on as i went to light my grill and was being swarmed by mosquitos & thought it didn't work. When i went back out with the food for the grill they were all gone (around the grill). I bought 7 more for a party yesterday and normally it would have been impossible for everyone to be in my backyard for the entire party without going inside.

I've used the butane ones for a couple of years and thought this would be more convenient since it's rechargeable so I bought one a few months ago.

I ended up returning it because instead of the individually wrapped blue repellant pads that the butane ones use, this uses a liquid repellant that costs more and ends up evaporating if you don't remove it from the device and put the cap back on after every use. (and one you put the cap on the repellant, it no longer fits in the Thermacell device so you have to carry it around separately. I also found that the liquid repellant did not last even half as long as it is rated for whereas the pads for the butane Themacell seemed to last as long or longer than advertised and could be left in the device for weeks (maybe even months) without losing effectiveness.

I put this in the garage for the home gym. I was devoured by mosquitoes that night anyway. Haven't used this since.

does this really work?
I feel like it does. Not sure what all I'm breathing in (has no scent) but we see fewer mosquitoes when it's running.

Useless on a day with a breeze. Seems to make a difference on calm days.

I really wanted this product to work, but unfortunately, it didn't work for me at all. I live in North Jersey, and with all the rain we've had this summer, the mosquito population has been terrible. I've even had my backyard professionally treated, but nothing seems to help. As soon as dawn hits, the mosquitoes are out looking for blood. I had high hopes for Thermacell, but unfortunately, it just didn't work for me.

Lol I need to install an AC unit so I can keep the door closed. It's Florida so it gets overwhelmingly hot and musty in a garage

Is there something that helps you to remember to turn it off? Can't tell you how many times we forget and it runs dry... Frown
That's my only problem with them. Wish it had a timer option
