About this title:
It was one of the worst man-made catastrophes in history. On April 26, 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Soviet Union suffered a massive explosion that released radioactive material across Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, and as far as Scandinavia and western Europe. This gripping and powerful five-part miniseries follows the tragedy from the moment of the early-morning explosion through the chaos and loss of life in the ensuing days, weeks and months. This is an excellent price for the 4K version of this title. I bought this more than 4 years ago and paid twice the price for this highly rated set... It was on sale then.

If you are a physical media person like me, this is an excellent deal! Thanks OP for posting this! TU

Everyone reading this post already knows how amazing this series was but just in case... This is an all time great. Even if you don't care about the subject matter that much; the acting, the tension and the atmosphere of this show are all world class.

This series the absolute pinnacle of the documentary/drama blend. It is quite accurate science and history wise (with a few liberties) and captures the essence of that event so well. Great price.

While I enjoyed the production value of Chernobyl, I find the series problematic in its portrayal of the Soviet system.
It uses documentary-style filmmaking to package a simplified, Western-centric ideological construct rather than offering a nuanced historical account.
That said, the show does succeed as a catalyst; it forces us to re-examine the late 1980s and encourages a critical reflection on the actual events and realities of that era.
