You're better off getting the speaker package for the $799 and then getting the RZ30 when it hits $700 again.

Basically same sonic performance with an extra $500 in your pocket!

I am incredibly underwhelmed by the RZ30 compared to my Pioneer LX505 and the RZ70 is a step up from the Pioneer.

Just curious: what is it about the RZ30 that underwhelms you? Are you using it mostly for movies/TV, or for critical 2 channel music listening? Are the speakers crossed over to a sub?

Interesting, for us we compared it to the RZ70 on a 9 channel SVS Prime/Ultra setup.
At average levels, difference was not significant, definitely not over twice the price difference.
Adding Bass Control made a much bigger difference for us.

I run a 3.1 on my TV and switch to 2.1 for music. I have Martin Logan and a 14" Klipsch. When you turn it up to ear splitting levels it just is lacking compared to the Pioneer 505

So I missed out on just the speakers alone for 799. Is this worth getting or just wait for the speakers to come back at 799? I have a receiver (tx-nr747) but it's 10 years old. But I doubt I'll ever need the 11 channels of this one. I had built in ceiling speakers before but just moved so now getting floor speakers is all new to me. I do have a sub already.

Yeah I'd wait. This bundle isn't worth it if you don't need 11 channels, you're grossly overpaying for the AVR.

I suggest you just wait, it likely will come back.

Your 747 will easily drive these speakers.
So unless you need some new features, you'll just need to add a subwoofer.

If you wanted the features of this receiver, the RZ30 has pretty much all of them and it's been $700.
Well someone mentioned, maybe if you listen at ear splitting levels the RZ30 might struggle.

Have this paired with a RZ30. Absolutely blows my local theater away. Get a UMIK-1 when you do the DIRAC with a laptop and enjoy audiophile sound bliss. Absolutely amazing speakers! I already had the full RC setup from years back so I just got the bundle (the$700 one, not this one) to upgrade my RC-30s to the RC-70s.

The RZ30 would have been the equivalent to the 305 so you actually went backwards in power compared to your 505.

Also, Martin Logans don't play nice with limp mode AVRs. Your best bet would have been the RZ70, 805, or DRX 8.4 if you wanted to stay in the PAC family.

I know I went backwards. I bought with the intention of adding an amp. That's why I moved the 505 to the theater room. I just feel like stepping up to the RZ70 would be a much better choice. Once I add an amp I will be to that price anyway.

I am curious what level of speaker you would consider an upgrade from the Infinity Reference R263/RC263 or JBL 580/590

Thanks

If you have the speakers crossed over to a sub and you don't listen at ear bleeding levels, there is a 0.01% chance you'd ever notice one ioita difference between the RZ30 and the RZ70 or your current 505. So just enjoy your new system.

For HT, something like PSA speakers. For music or 50/50 mixed use, something more neutral like Ascend Sierras.

Make sure your receiver has your speakers on "small" with a 60-80Hz crossover, not "large" playing full range as often happens with many room correction tools' default post-calibration settings---single most common culprit in sabotaging perfectly good systems. If you already do, then you probably need higher impedance & higher sensitivity speakers to hit such high SPLs cleanly.
