How would this compare to a Sonus era 100? Sound quality wise

These are good but more so as computer speakers on your desk. I got the hmdi arc version for my son. He loves them but you have to update the firmware so the usb signal turns them on.

I think they serve somewhat different purposes. This is a stereo, while a single SONOS era 100 is not--unless you are talking about pairing two of them. This does not have Wifi streaming capability like the Era 100.

I own this pair for my office desk. They are great for the size.

My mom fell for the trap of Sonos speakers... the soundbar she got is nice enough for WiFi streaming and hers has an HDMI input, but as soon as she got a projector, she couldn't use it, if she wants to play her Apple Music to it from her iPad, it doesn't support Airplay 2. Newer models have more features, but in the end this is cheaper, more flexible for where you can place them (and get good stereo imaging!!), and she would be able to connect via her legacy disc players that use optical and projector that would really benefit from being able to connect via Bluetooth.
