I got one of these a year or so ago. It is pretty good as an electric smoker for the avg need. But the grill just doesn't get hot enough for really searing meats if that is your plan. Probably fine for hot dogs and stuff, but don't plan on getting that crust on a burger.
But it did do a reasonably good job smoking a pork butt.

Had the opposite grilling experience to previous poster. If you're grilling use the grill setting on medium or high. Medium is plenty hot but high is absolutely sizzling hot, more than enough to sear. Smoking is where this bad boy shines though!

I got the XL version of this on eBay last year for $250. I like it a lot although the smoke isn't like a real offset smoker. You're not going to get that traditional smoke ring going on your meats but on the flip side you can have a decent smoked flavor in like 45 mins

It's a nice way to get a decent smoked meat without the effort of a normal smoker. Is the result as good as a high quality smoker that's monitored throughout the smoke: no. But it's nice to throw something on and forget about it for a few hours.
