The story is really neat and by the end I found it to be one of my favorite games of all time. It is divisive with players, some think like I do and others enjoy games where you hack n slash and collect stuff and upgrade things. It is a mistake to spoil the story on this one. the music is great, the story is charming and unique, the puzzles are crafting designed, and the exploration leaves you feeling like a proper astronaut.
The bundle with Echoes of the Eye expansion was also excellent and leans more into a non-gory horror aspect. it adds to the overall main story in a neat way.

Outer Wilds is a curiosity driven space exploration puzzle game that shines when you figure things out for yourself. The mystery, music, and handcrafted world create a memorable, spoiler free experience, and the Echoes of the Eye expansion adds a strong lore focused side story with some non gory horror. The Switch 2 patch improves framerate and clarity, and the Archeologist edition with the expansion is cheaper than buying the base game and DLC separately. The main caveat is that the controls and ship handling can feel janky or frustrating at first, and the horror elements are not for everyone, making it a distinctive but polarizing pick.
Common Questions (4)
The ship and movement controls are acceleration-based, so they can feel awkward at first and some players find them janky. Once the physics click, the flying and landings can become very fun, but the controls can still be a dealbreaker if you dislike that style.
Yes. The story and progression depend on figuring things out yourself, and the experience is strongest when you know as little as possible. It is a one-time discovery game, so looking things up early can spoil the core appeal.
No. The base game is $12.49, while the Archeologist edition that includes Echoes of the Eye is also on sale for $17.09, which is cheaper than buying the base game and DLC separately on this sale.
Yes. A Switch 2 patch improves framerate and clarity, making it noticeably better than Switch 1 performance, though still not at PC-level smoothness.

Sounds like a great game as long as you don't find out about it, the way a LOT of people find games now which is through streams and playthroughs
yes, it's not everyone's cup of tea, but at just $13 it's worth the gamble to see if you too will love it as much as so many others do.
At this price? Worth trying. It is a VERY polarizing game.
