ASUS Prime RX 9070 16GB OC is a strong value play for 4K gaming, especially if a little tuning can push it close to 9070 XT performance. The price is viewed as only slightly above MSRP and still competitive against current Nvidia pricing, with the 16GB model seen as better value than a 5060 Ti 16GB. The main drawback is that nearby 9070 XT deals can land close enough to make this less compelling. Case fit also matters, since some competing cards are described as very large.

Common Questions (3)

  • It is slightly above MSRP, but still considered reasonable in the current market and better value than many alternatives. A 9070 XT within about $50 would be the stronger buy, but XT pricing is often higher and harder to find.

  • The ASUS Prime card is not described as oversized, while PowerColor 9070 XT models are called massive and over 12 inches long. Smaller cards like Gigabyte models are noted as fitting in compact cases such as the Cooler Master NR200P, but large PowerColor cards may not fit sub-300mm cases.

  • It can reportedly be clocked to very close to 9070 XT performance with a few minutes of tuning. That makes the $629.99 price more attractive if you want near-XT performance without paying XT pricing.

Lame that Advanced Money Destroyer nerfs these cards with a 256 Bus width. I remember before 2020 the bus widths were insane like 512 bit for an R9 290 and 4096 bit for a Radeon VII. Then 2020 came and AMD and NGreedia colluded to set GPU prices and nerf GPUs to 128 Bit. I am still using a Radeon Vii today and plays everything I throw at it in 4k. 7 years and still strong.

A bit over the MSRP for this card, which given the way things are right now, is probably not that bad. Certainly beats the 5060ti 16gb which is actually going to be more expensive. If you can find a deal on a 9070xt with in $50 of this price that's probably a better deal but given the way prices shot up earlier this month I'm not sure you'll see a deal like that any time soon, especially if you aren't near a microcenter.

There was a sale for XT for $650 about a month ago. Was up for 4hrs.
Oh ok. I'm actually considering getting a 9070 GRE some time toward the end of the month since I'll be out of town in an area that has a local MicroCenter.
