If it's like most other SwissGear backpacks it has some harder pieces that help it maintain shape but it's not "hard"

For anyone curious, the compartment you access from the side ment for an extra pair of shoes is just the right size to slide an entire steam deck case (oem case from valve) without issue. I have been using this bag for about 2 years as my daily work carry bag, works great and steam deck easily accessible if I want to play for a few min during lunch.

I have it and that part will rip up in 2 weeks unfortunately. Aside from that, I love this bag. I use it daily for work. Make sure the rear part is completely zippered at all times or it might flap open on you and drop all your things if you decide to run for a train or something, lol.
