most of my storage is in the cloud, even my dbs on local development are on AWS so i don't have a need for a lot of storage space

if you do any AI development and want to run a large model locally, you need the space to store it. or, if you do any kind of video editing, then you will fill up 512 gb very quickly.

Just running XCode with a few platform files, Creative Suite and a few other apps and my 1TB model always seems out of space. I have external SSDs for data, photos, video, etc and a huge NAS, but just day to day it feels like 2TB is minimum size when you factor in swap/scratch space.
