Fantastic camera. Had mine since 2018 and it was around the same price. I think the tech might be a bit outdated now a few years later. There might be better models now so not sure if I'd recommend in 2026 but then again, these cameras just get more and more expensive.

the stock lenses kind of suck, I would purchase body only and go after market prime or save up for something better.

"kind of suck" is giving it too much credit. I had an A6000 with this kit lens, a Sony RX10 Mark1, and a Canon G9x at the same time back then, and the A6000 with this lens produces pictures that were inferior to either the Rx10 or G9x (cameras with much smaller 1" sensors). I slapped on a nicer Sony 18-105 F4 G Lens and the pictures looked like it was produced from a completely different camera.

Two of the best lenses for the a6xxx series IMO is the Sigma 10-18 2.8 & 18-50 2.8. I use both of them on a a6700 for a travel package. Amazing glass.

a6400 is nearly identical to the a6300, sharing the same sensor but with a few QOL adjustments

the a6300 is over a decade old. the a6400 is not far behind. this is a really old camera fwiw.
