This doesn't work while walking. You need to sit down or stay in one fixed spot for it to be effective.

I've used one for over 20 years. I might buy this one to have a spare. You can refill the cartridges with butane if you research how to remove the inner valve. Once I mastered that, I bought an adaper from Amazon a few years ago and now I can buy cans of butane. You still have to buy the pads.

Edit: They also have the cartridges and pads on sale!

It needs to saturate a specific area for a bit to repel mosquitos. If you are not going to be in the space for more than 5 minutes, this might not work well. Better option is just bug repellent for short durations. Long durations (ie dinner in back yard) would work, just turn it on for the 5 minutes before heading out so it can clear the area for you first.

These do not work if there is any breeze or wind. They basically burn an insecticide and create a cloud of toxins that you sit in. In fact the warning on the package says NOT to use indoors. Hard pass for me - I'll just spray my clothes with pyrethrin (yea, another toxin but at least I'm not breathing it once it is on the clothing and dried.
