An egg slicer is best for small, soft, or cooked foods when you want quick, uniform slices. Beyond eggs and fruit, try it for:
- Mushrooms for pizza, omelets, stir-fries, or sautéing.
- Fresh mozzarella or other soft cheeses for caprese, sandwiches, and pizza.
- Olives for salads, tacos, pasta, or pizza toppings.
- Cooked baby potatoes for potato salad, gratins, or breakfast skillets.
- Cooked carrots, beets, or zucchini for salads and side dishes.
- Avocado for sandwich or salad slices, provided it is ripe but not overly soft.
- Firm tofu for bowls, salads, or stir-fries; press it first to remove moisture.
- Cold butter to make tidy pats for toast, baking, or serving.
- Cooked hot dogs or sausage links for baked beans, mac and cheese, or kid-friendly pieces.
- Soft tomatoes for a small sandwich or salad batch, using very gentle pressure.
For a quick dice, slice once, rotate the food 90 degrees, and slice again.
