Apple TV always does that. When an actor passes they immediately put films/TV shows that they starred in on sale. I remember in particular when they did that with Walker Texas ranger.

Honestly season 1 and 2 are good but season 3 it falls off and then it is like a different show. I'd wait till $10 but it'll probably not happen soon

I wonder what is their intention here, cash in on people's sentiments, or a genuine reason for people to see the actor's work without spending much.

I'd say it's money more than anything else. They can disguise it as a sentiment thing but when the day is over it's a business move.
