This TCL Roku TV is a budget 4K set that stands out for low pricing and long-term reliability in everyday use. The Roku interface is familiar, sideloading is possible with Google TV on some setups, and several long-running TCL sets are still working well after years of use. The main drawbacks are the smart TV software, which can slow down and show more ads over time, and the built-in audio, which may need a soundbar. It also is not the best fit for serious gaming, where 120Hz sets make more sense.
Common Questions (4)
The Roku interface can get slower with age and may show more ads and suggested content over time. Clearing the Roku cache can help, and some users also avoid the issue by using an external device or a computer instead of the built-in OS.
Several TCL owners report years of use with no major problems, including sets still running after 6 to 12 years. Reported failures include a dead pixel after 4 years and a backlight dying after 3 years, so longevity can be strong but not perfect.
TCL is praised for very low pricing and long-term reliability, while the Hisense is described as needing more color tweaking and having better gaming features like VRR and quantum dot on some models. If you want the cheapest Roku TV, TCL fits; if you want more gaming-oriented features, the Hisense is the stronger pick.
It is fine for regular video at 60Hz, but it is not the best pick for heavy gaming. For Xbox and PS5, a 120Hz TV is the better choice, and this model is described as not for gaming.

Will it give it a try again today evening. It's a big TV for my viewing distance, moved from 43 inch TCL 4K.

Although I attribute much of the OS slowness to age, and was considering this deal to update the hardware. My second, and newer TCL Roku TV is working pretty well.
